Wir suchen für einen unserer Kunden 5 freiberufliche Mitarbeiter (w/m)
…. we are looking to rollout software (Microsoft Office Communicator 2007, plus 3 other components) to Vodafone group users. These users will be non-VIC users, on the old Radia infrastructure.
Beginn: September
Dauer: 1,5 Monate
Ort: Newbury, London und Düsseldorf
The scope is of this work is approx.
Newbury HQ site, UK (2000 users)
London Strand site UK (100 users)
Dusseldorf site Germany (1200 users)
Exclusions currently are
Users in Ratingen
Any VIPS users
WIFI users in Dusseldorf (under investigation)
Timeline/Plan
We need to start on the 8th September running at approx. 200 users per day. This should complete the main deployment on the 25th September leaving 3 working days to mop up. Training and deployment planning for FS will need to begin week commencing 25th August.
The initial idea is to send an email to the users about the rollout and follow up with a phone call to agree the migration. The a phone call before the migration and after.
Migration Steps
Migrate all users to the new OCS platform (back/end), this can be done anytime before and old LCS will still work.
Add users to Group Policy Objects, this must be done at the same time as step 3&4 because old LCS will not work once this happens. (OIT)
Remove old LCS of the laptop/PC by removing the user from the Radia group. This forces a reboot without a user prompt.
Add user to new radia group which will trigger the install of the new client.
Tasks for FS
Perform all migration steps 1,2,3,4.
Manage the deployment plan and users engagement (1 email communication to be agreed by Vodafone plus phone calls).
Locally troubleshoot issues post migration for 48hrs (this will mean desk visits).
Daily reports to Vodafone.
Tasks for Vodafone
Provide FS will technical training on migration steps and training on the new solution.
Provide technical support for FS with troubleshooting.
Manage escalations (unhappy users).
Known Problems
When you un-install LCS via Radia it automatically reboots the PC without prompting. i.e. no warning.
We need to apply the global policies before the migration otherwise the new OCS will not work, unfortunately these changes for the most part do not seem to work over WIFI. (this means we cannot rollout to the non-networked users in Düsseldorf.)
Adobe Reading will not working properly with TC on legacy build. We are investigating a solution.
In total: 4 engineers, 2 in UK, 2 in Germany (bi-lingual) and 1 project manager (bi-lingual)
